Museum.
Lytham windmill is back in its prime again after a fresh repaint. On the inside the museum run by
Lytham Heritage Group, and now in its 26th year, has also been updated for the 2014 season. There are new and updated displays including a
exhibit of training manoeuvres on Lytham Green for the 100thCentenary of the World War 1. The museum also
contains a Tourist Information centre run by Fylde Borough Council.
The mill has already been
visited by over 12,000 people since opening for the 2014 season at Easter, including visitors from as far away
as Australia and the USA. There have also been a number of school visits from schools from Lancashire and
Manchester, who have been given an inspiring tour of the mill and its history by Peter Marsden of the Country
Trust.
The season continues until 14 September and is open Wednesdays to Sundays including bank
holidays from 10:30am until 4:30pm. The mill will just be closed for the Lytham Proms from 30 July to 3
August. For school trips only the mill is available Mondays and Tuesdays by contacting listening@fylde.gov.uk. It’s a great venue for all the family and it’s free. Check it out on the website or Facebook
page.
